Accessibility

Using this website

ACIC-PUSH intends this website to be usable by everyone, including people who browse with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or a reduced-motion setting.

What this statement does and does not claim

This website is built to target WCAG 2.2 Level AA and the measures below are implemented and checked in development. It has not yet been independently audited and no conformance certificate has been issued for it. A formal accessibility audit is planned; this statement will be replaced by its findings.

The standard applied

The website is developed against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, which is the level the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites adopt. Colour contrast is not left to judgement: every text and interface colour pair the design relies on is measured automatically whenever the palette changes and the build fails if a pair drops below its threshold.

What the site does

  • Keyboard access. Every link, control, menu and form field can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. A “Skip to main content” link is the first thing the Tab key reaches on any page.
  • Visible focus. Whatever holds keyboard focus is marked with the same clearly visible outline throughout the site.
  • Structure. Pages use real landmarks, one first-level heading each and headings in order, so a screen reader can navigate by structure rather than by reading everything.
  • Menus. The section menus open on click as well as on hover and close with the Escape key — they never depend on a pointer hovering in place.
  • Forms. Labels are always visible, hints and errors are associated with their field and a summary of any errors takes focus when a submission fails.
  • Colour is never the only signal. Status is carried by text and an icon as well as colour.
  • Images. Meaningful images carry alternative text; decorative artwork is hidden from assistive technology rather than described.
  • Motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, transitions and smooth scrolling are switched off.
  • Reflow and zoom. Pages work down to a 320-pixel-wide viewport and at 200% zoom without content being cut off or requiring sideways scrolling.

Screen reader access

This website can be read with a screen reader. The Centre does not supply, endorse or support any of the products below and is not responsible for their content or licensing — they are listed only so that a visitor who needs one knows where to look.

Adjusting text size and contrast

The site does not override your browser or operating system settings, so the controls you already use will work here. Text can be enlarged with your browser’s zoom (Ctrl and + or Cmd and + on a Mac) and the layout reflows to match. If your system is set to a high-contrast or larger-text mode, the site inherits it.

Documents

Reports, policies and forms are published as downloads. Where a document originates outside the Centre it may not meet the same standard as these pages. If you need a document in an accessible or alternative format, ask through the contact routes and the Centre will supply one.

Known limitations

  • No independent accessibility audit has been carried out yet, so barriers the development checks do not catch may remain.
  • Some institutional logos are supplied to the Centre as low-resolution images and will look soft on a high-density screen until vector artwork is provided.
  • Documents in the downloads section are published as supplied and have not each been individually remediated.

Reporting a barrier

If any part of this website prevents you from doing what you came to do, please tell the Centre — it is treated as a defect, not a request. Write through the contact routes, saying which page you were on, what you were trying to do and what happened. Where a matter is not resolved, the grievance redressal route remains open.

The published accessibility contact will be named here once ACIC-PUSH confirms it — currently To be updated.
